GARDEN CITY, Colo. _ Last week, tiny Garden City threw a party to celebrate improvements to its main street. Last December, the West Liberty Police Department (WLPD) joined the many departments nationwide who participate in Shop with a Cop to help children in need. This year, thanks to many generous donations, the WLPD expanded their program to help twice as many children.
When WLPD Chief Kary Kinmonth first joined Shop with a Cop in 2017, he and his officers raised enough money to take ten children shopping. Impressed by their initial success, the WLPD set a goal of increasing the number of children they helped this year to fifteen.
