City of Redfield Reaps the Benefits of Recent Lottery Prize Drawing

REDFIELD, Iowa — The Redfield woman who hit the jackpot after purchasing a winning Powerball ticket last month isn’t the only one cashing in. The Casey’s General Store in Redfield continues to create quite the buzz.

“It’s been a boost for a small town,” says Mayor Dustin Lantz. “The first thing you got thinking about after the winner was announced is, what good could it do in our community? It turned around and did good in our community.”

The Iowa Lottery gave Casey’s a $10,000 bonus for selling the ticket. Now it’s giving that money away.

Salvation Army Toy Drive begins Nov. 12 around Ottawa county

The Ottawa County Salvation Army Toy Drive that begins on Monday, Nov. 12 is guaranteed to bring Christmas cheer to many youngsters around the county. The Toy Drive is the collaborative effort of The Salvation Army, Toys for Tots “Weapons Company 1/24” and the Ottawa County Holiday Bureau.

SPMC, Parents of KIDS-4 selling ‘Football Crazr’ tickets

Back by popular demand, the Sun Prairie Media Center (SPMC) is inviting residents to go “Football Crazr” to help support its long-running KIDS-4 program. The Parents of KIDS-4 group, in conjunction with the Sun Prairie Media Center, is working to sell “Fund Crazr” fundraising tickets to raise money for needed equipment to help the non-profit KIDS-4 program survive and thrive.

Here’s how it works: Each family with a child in the 2017-18 KIDS-4 program has been asked to sell a number of “Football Crazr” tickets.

Fourth Street treat coming Friday with Spooktacular; candy donations still welcome

Fourth Street will be buzzing with costumed children — and adults — for Friday’s Spooktacular.

Spooktacular is 6-8 p.m. Friday and is expected to have another big crowd. The event has drawn more than 1,250 each year.

Spooktacular is a collaboration of businesses, nonprofit organizations, civic and city resources coming together to create a safe Halloween experience for young and old. Spooktacular draws more than 75 entities together to provide candy, trinkets, games and a safe environment for youths of all ages.
